about
On October 1, 2010 an extremely unfortunate even happened at a Transit show with Fireworks, the Swellers, and Man Overboard in Detroit, MI. During our set, a homie named Jayson was enjoying himself but got caught up in things and ended up with a broken arm. This was something that should have never happened, and we’re super bummed for Jayson and can’t help but feel accountable. Jayson’s friends contacted us after the show telling us about the mishap and that Jayson would need surgery. What makes things even worse is the fact that Jayson and his family are not in the best of financial situations, and the surgery was extremely costly. So, we decided we would do what we could to help Jayson out.
“Bikes Through Sand” is a demo Transit recorded about two years ago on a laptop. It was never meant to be heard by anyone, as it is just a demo version of a song, and is definitely not recorded or performed to the best of our abilities. BUT, we figured this would be perfect to help Jayson out. We have made this song available here, for you to purchase a download and choose the price. All of the money will go to helping Jayson pay for his surgery. Please, help him out. No one deserves for that to happen to them at a show when everyone is just having fun.
lyrics
Like bikes through sand we’re barely moving.
We tried to hold on to the grains but they fall through our fingers.
If only I could unroll those days and stretch them out forever.
But the years divide us and separate us from ourselves.
And it haunts me how time goes on.
It leaves us all waiting.
Walking aimlessly into the unknown.
Clear skies, midnight drives, and songs from old mixtapes.
The sounds that resonate through our ears.
They keep ringing.
And after all these years, your songs and your words keep ringing.

Been following Somos for many years, feeling that they had an opus in them...well, here it is. Driving pop-punk sensibilities lend an upbeat tone in contrast to the grim lyrical proceedings, and they absolutely pull it off. Evocative music that's been on repeat for me all month long.
